My FD has a PowerFC but unfotunately no hand controller.
After speaking to other FD owners/experts I made up my mind that it would be worth my while to get one not for configuration of the PowerFC, but for monitoring purposes.
So I managed to source a seller who just had the hand controller and purchased it:

Now as a monitoring tool, it would be pretty much useless out of sight, sitting inside the glove compartment, so I needed an elegant way to mount the unit onto my dash... velcro, no thank you!
That's where this beauty of a part made by Japanese workshop R-Magic comes in:

Now this thing was NOT cheap... 100AUD delivered from PerfectRun. 100AUD for a piece of plastic. It maybe some of the most solid, weighty plastic I've ever held, but still plastic. Anyway, hurrah for Japanese quality, as it sits very well on my dashboard:

Finally, last week I popped into Kinokuniya and spied this "I Love FD3S" book from publisher Neko Mook:

It's an interesting book, basically giving a run down of the FD3S history from 1991 til production end in 2002, and also makes mention of special model variations such as the RZ and Bathurst models. It also shows the brochure from the very first version I FD3S model, where I discovered some of the more notable options available to FD3S buyers back in 1991.
Prices quoted are 1991 prices, so adjust for inflation accordingly:
- Magnesium Wheels 86,700JPY
- Front parking sensors 34,800JPY
- Fold out LCD TV 122,300JPY
- Boat shoes and Driving gloves 24,000JPY and 10,000JPY
Also, at the end of the book there's a catalogue showing off all the Mazdaspeed parts you can get for the FD, which is basically a massive cocktease because Mazdaspeed don't make parts for the FD anymore!
That's all for now.
