Haven't put it on yet, the install still about 2 months away
It's a BIG MUTHA of a turbo so I don't expect response to be too good, but I can live with that. I didn't choose it for response if you know what I mean?
Sorry for the thread jack, back on topic...

Hey mate
I was thinking of going the GT30R myself. just wondering what size turbine housing you used im guessing .82A/R? (i had a good look through the thread and couldnt see it anywhere so sorry if i missed it.)
Just asking cos i was looking more for response than a big power figure but was thinking the .63a/r might be to small for the power i want (320ish RWHP). Does the vvti help top end much (i've got jzx90 so NO vvti 4 me!).

JZX90's dont have the VVTi version of the 1JZ unless it was some aftermarket swap but that is extreeeeemely unlikely.
VVTi generally helps with adjusting the power curve to produce more torque in the lower to mid rpm range.
320rwhp ish is achievable using the stock twin CT12a turbo's that come on the non-vvti 1jz in the JZX90's but that is about their limits.

Agreed. A 0.62 ex would make boost control very difficult.
I don't know how good the response is with the VVTi but non VVTi users can expect less power below 3500 rpm. If you are prepared to live with that, then the extra power above that rpm is well worth it.

Sorry to dig an old thread up from its grave.
I was googling on the ol' GT3076r when I came across this thread.
I was initially a little horrifed at the power made vs boost level and thought that can't be right.
So I had a look at the pictures supplied and there we have it.. the answer.
As much as I don't like to say it but the Gt3076r you have is the crapo one.
240-270rwkw with extremely high boost levels is very common on the 7 blade wheel to4s comp gt30 comp wheel.
Flog it off and grab the GT3076r 6blade .6 port shroud as shown on garrets web site.
They make a bulk load more power than the older combination you have.
FYI the GT3076r .6 port shroud gt30 was the same identical core as what HKS use in their HKS3037S; the only difference is HKS run a little insert within the 4" inlet to reduce turbulence which improves turbine efficiency.
The good GT3076r's generally make around 260-270rwkw on 15-16psi and push 320rwkw odd with a little over 20psi. Some good fuel or water injection and 350rwkw is not uncommon.

yeh im going 3540R, either the 0.82 or the 1.06 housing, it will take a bit to hit full boost (about 4-4.5k) but once it does it will be nuts, and i am also planning to 1.5j with rebuilt internals so i can rev out harder and that will also help it spool up quicker.... i have a friend whos got a 1j cressy with a 3540r with 1.06..the best feeling when it picks up boost.... im not after responsiveness.. im after sheer power.

Agreed, who needs response when you have a big nasty snail!!

digging up an old thread here. =) pat, what fuel octane are you running? i'm running pretty much the same setup you are 1jzgte VVTi and GT3076R turbo (newer version) with accompanying fuel and computer to support it all. i'm trying to hit the 400rwhp/300rwkw mark and i'm starting to get worried that i won't be able to hit it on 91 octane. did you get a chance to install the stiffer WG spring yet and dyno your car at 25psi?
