My friend and I are doing a 1JZ-GTE VVTi swap into an MX83 Cressida. The engine (with auto trans) is from a JZX100 Chaser, believed to be a 97 or 98. My problem is finding an accurate wiring diagram or even an accurate ECU pinout. I've found plenty of Soarer info, which doesn't match. I do have a chaser diagram, but it isn't a match either. ECU part number is 89661-2A050. I'm hoping someone can help me out here (or even point me in the right direction), so we can make this thing run!

This is the soarer pinout I find everywhere, that doesn't match:

And here is the Chaser info that doesn't match exactly either:

Here are some pictures of what I'm looking at:

The ECU pinouts for the 16pin and 28pin connectors are really what I'm after as there is no way to pin it out. Here are the wire colors:

1 - Blue/Orange
2 - Red/Yellow
3 - Gray/Red
4 - White/Blue
5 - Green
6 - BLANK
7 - Brown
8 - Light Green
9 - Light Green/Red
10 - Blue/Black
11 - Yellow
12 - BLANK
13 - Green/Red
14 - Yellow/Green
15 - BLANK
16 - BLANK

[28 pin]
1 - Blue
2 - Yellow/Green
3 - Blue/White
4 - BLANK
5 - Red/Gray
6 - Red/White
7 - BLANK
8 - BLANK
9 - Gray/Red
10 - Green
11 - Pink
12 - Light Green
13 - BLANK
14 - Black/Yellow
15 - Purple
16 - Red
17 - BLANK
18 - Green/White
19 - Red/Yellow
20 - Blue/Red
21 - Green/Brown
22 - Black/Red
23 - BLANK
24 - Red/Black
25 - Green/Yellow
26 - Green/Red
27 - Brown/White
28 - Purple/White

If anybody can help me with these body plugs, that would be great. If worse comes worst, I can always pin them out myself:

Thanks in advance for any help. I don't know where to go next.

Wow, almost 100 views and no replies?

Well, I took a very hard and painstaking look at this diagram and pinout:

http://rapidshare.co...9/JZX100ecu.pdf
http://rapidshare.co...zx100chaser.pdf

I had to brush up on my japanese, but it appears the wire colors match and the positions *mostly* match. There are a couple extra wires and a few missing wires, including the Exhaust Gas Temperature sensor which it seems this engine does not have. But the differences seem few and unimportant.

I've got the Chaser diagram mostly translated. The wire colors are quite a pain as the quality isn't good enough to make out the characters very well. If anybody has a better quality jzx100 chaser diagram (even in japanese), let me know. I'll be posting the translated diagram up here as soon as I have it done. I have also found that this engine is from a car produced after August 1998. So I would assume it is from a 1999 or 2000 model year car. There is no VIN on the engine so I can't narrow it down further than that.

So I pretty much have the ECU plugs figured out, but I have got ZERO info on these 5 body plugs. So any help with those at all would be greatly appreciated. Really...ANY info at all - even the purpose of the plugs would help at this point.:

Trace the loom wires back to their source. That's what I do as you can't rely on the wiring diagrams out there. It takes longer but at least your loom will be correct.

Yeah, it seems that is what I'll have to do. Hopefully I can do it without tearing into the harness too much.

Hey, Hey! A matching pinout! Not complete, but helpful nonetheless. Thank you sir.

I wonder why there is so much less info on these later VVTi 1jz-gte's? There seems to be tons of info on the older JZA70 engines.

Outside Japan vvt-i's aren't a common engine. I think it's just a lack of them in English speaking countries. Whereas JZA70's and E-JZZ30's have been getting thrashed around North America and Australasia for years (UK to a lesser extent), but not as many vvt-i powered cars.
