Do you have any preference for HDR software?

Personally I use Photomatrix Pro3 but also use Photoshop CS4. Both are as good as each other but I find photomatrix just that bit easier.
here is one of my single RAW files converted to HDR. (love the drag and drop feature in Photomatrix)

VR lenses are better imo, ok 18-55 you might think you wont use the vr function much but if its at night (which you should be using a tripod) is one reason to have one.
Ch4ser. 30d is an awesome cam! If you dad was a photographer then I doubt its the lens. Do you come from an analogue background? I say just play with different settings, stay away from using automatic mode and use Shutter or aperture priority modes, better pics, better skillz. Also play with the settings one by one in fully manual mode so you'll know what does what. Best bet ask your dad hey!

Well my little sister broke my camera (point and shoot), now now looking for a DSLR. Hearing good things about the D90. How here is using one with the standard twin lens kit?

Yep, got mine with the twin lens kit yesterday.
The lenses aren't the highest quality (i.e. construction wise) but having the flexibility of both does come in real handy. The single lens kit is much cheaper but you'd be very limited to the types of shots you can take with that one IMHO.
I'm just getting to grips with the D90 but absolutely loving it already. Matt started with a D60 I believe and I kept on telling him about my old mans D90, in the end he upgraded to the D90 too
As did I! For the money, its a seriously hot piece of gear which I can see will more than suffice for a very long time. So far I can't even begin to imagine any limitations it may have, in my hands anyway...

I don't know why, but I love this shot

Something I still want is a fisheye lens and some flashes, even 1 flash would be better then nothing. Some shots are light up quite well in some areas but others its just dark and dull.
I've started shooting in raw and I love it, can make those final adjustments without ruining that little bit of quality.
How does this HDR work? I was told you take under exposed, about right and over exposed and use a program to mix it together. But reading up, looks like its just a program that does it for you?
That air freshener shot is awesome
