Did a trial fit of the JZA80 Supra 4 pot brakes that l bought for the Soarer onto the Chaser the other day.

With the right parts this turns out to be a very easy and cheap brake upgrade.

All of the new parts required to complete the Left hand side conversion.
Re-use the caliper mount bolts and backing plate bolts.

The Supra calipers have a different mounting spacing so these special nuts are required.
Available through Greenline (Night pager 80 nut set)

Top 2 are the 2 out of the supra calipers, bottom 2 change the spacing to suit Chaser

Press out the supra nuts and press in the new offset nuts.
This is now the exact spacing to suit the Chaser caliper mount.

Backing Plate, couple of different ways to go.

Because you are now fitting a larger rotor the chaser backing plate doesn't cover the rotor,
1) the backing plate can be bent slightly at the outer edges to clear rotor
2) Remove the backing plate completely and leave off ( as l have done for the demo)
3) Use the Supra backing plate, but new holes will need to be drilled in the backing plate as the mounting points are different to Chaser

From here it is just a matter of putting the rotor on, followed by the caliper, pads, retaining pins and shims.

Standard brake hoses will still fit with the supra 4 pots, but l would recommend fitting Stainless Braided Brake hoses at this point to gain full advantage of the Supra upgrade.

To clear the new calipers your wheels will have to be at least 17" and 65mm from the rotor face to the back edge of the spokes on the wheels.

Hope this helps some of you looking into this conversion.

nice work mate - quite keen to do this upgrade as one can never have enough braking power :)

how much did the parts set you back, if you don't mind me asking?

JZA80 Supra Big Brake Kit Front

This is the New parts ordered for the Supra 4 pot front brake upgrade on the soarer

Front Calipers Left & Right
Front OEM Rotors Left & Right TRD Slotted also available but over twice the price
Front Fitting Kit
Front Dust Covers Left & right
TRD Black Front brake pad set

Pricing was around $1200 for all of the above.

At this stage, l understand that this will also fit the JZX100 Chaser with the addition of the Night Pager 80 Brake Nut Kit (Front) JZX100 1JZGTE: 15,200 yen from Greenline.
May also need new brake hoses to suit the Supra calipers, but that is easily sorted.

The Celsior 4 pot calipers will also bolt straight onto the soarer, (but are way to expensive new) but will not fit the Chaser at all.
At least this way l can try the Supra calipers on the Chaser.

I will take notes when fitting the Supra calipers onto the Chaser.

not sure how compatible these are,
4 piston Lexus brakes to suit JZX110
but here's some tough looking 4 piston calipers for sale with what looks like a kit to suit the JZX110 for the same price as the ones above.
looks like the JZX110 has alloy suspension arms like the Supra?

I've been concerned a bit lately whether my new Supra 4 Pots would be able to clear my rims.

Well, I did a test fit over the weekend, and I'm pleased to say I had about 2-3mm gap.

My wheels are a +44 offset and measured about 60mm from the rotor face to the inside edge.

I didn't want to fit spacers, so I'm 2 beers happy to start!

While I was at it, I also picked up that my mags were not sitting on the hub. I had some hub centric rings on the shelf so in they went!

Everything nice and toight now.
