Apart from the asthetics, why would you want to swap a straight line shift for an all over the place gate one??

The only reason i have is an aesthetic one I really do find the JZX90 shifter and surround very ugly.

It probably would have been smarter of Toyota to have "prettied" it up, and kept the 90 shift patten, the change to the JZX100 type was plain dumb,

The google translation isn't fantastic but it looks to be a conversion kit for putting the '100 shifter and surround into a '90. It might also be for converting the '90 instrument binacle to the '100 one? ~$900 though... pretty expensive!
