So, I'm new to both the forum and the JZX chassis. I know enough about cars to get me modding and such but I need some extra help for this one.

So here's the skinny:

- car shuts off, no engine noise, idiot lights come on, occasional check engine light but it usually clears itself so I haven't bothered with trying to get a code

- tach fluctuates pretty badly when the engine starts to cut or is about to cut

- TRC comes on with check engine light (have had problems with TRC before. Fixed it with a re-seat tho)

- engine will lose power if moving while tach flips out

I'm suspecting the MAF or the igniter. I REALLY hope its the igniter cause amazon has one for me for 150$.

Any help would be much appreciated

would be a good idea to check for error codes it may save you time and money

has it been running fine previously?

pretty sure jzx90 dont have a MAF they run of a MAP sensor on the firewall IIRC

The car was running fine yeah, it just started going down hill after the window regulator broke lol.

if it helps, the whole car is stock (I've only had it for a few months and a vacation has prevented me from putting any cash into it yet) and it only has almost 60k on it (its a japanese domestic)

I'm going to take the igniter to another chaser and see if it will cause the same issues since I cant bring the other igniter to the my car. I'll bring back results, let me know if this was a dumb idea though :D

Run the codes dude, it might be telling you exactly what the problem is.

To me, it would seem like if your tacho is going haywire, which is driven from your crank angle sensor (i would assume), then its likely a crank angle sensor problem. If that goes obviously all your timing and everything is gone and the engine will just die.

Plus if youve got a mate with a 90 that you tried the other part from, the CAS is easily swapped over if i remember correctly

Crank angle sensor on the way out will repeat the fault as will the ECU coolant temp sensor. My 90 would mostly cut during warm up cycle. Replaced the sensor  - fixed. Its the 2 pin sensor below the single pin sensor in the coolant return elbow.
