Hey Guys...

Thought I'd do this thread since my little story has a kind of happy ending...

Well my story started back on Christmas Eve in 2010 when disaster struck an I drop my DSLR and broke my Favorite Lens.
The lens was a Canon EF 16-35mm f2.8 USM L. and below is the damage that was done.

It was a really great start to the Xmas period...

Well jumping to July 2012... I was fortunate enough to replace the lens. and actually get it at a really good deal...

JB you've done it again... Was able to get the deal put on the 50 months interest free... BooYeah

Broke my extended battery pack/grip after dropping the camera :( Camera was perfectly fine, not a scratch but the grip was foobar'ed.

Also, one of my kit lenses broke in two even though I had it inside a proper padded camera backpack and the only thing I did was throw the backpack into the back seat of the Chaser. :(

Haven't replaced either, I just swap batteries now rather than having two plugged in at the same time and the shitty kit lens wasn't worth replacing IMHO.

Broke the back of a 17-40 F4L, just like that. Manage to get it repaired? Mine was on a tripod and the wind blew over a giant peice of cardboard that was against the wall which a bonnet came in. Happened so slowly but couldn't get to it

Kit lenses are never worth replacing... Time to upgrade... time to get some real good glass...

my suggestions would be the following providing the head of the Department of Finance Approves...

Zoom Lenses
EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM
EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM
EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM

Prime Lenses:
EF 50mm f/1.4 USM
EF 50mm f/1.2L USM

And then again if you just want to scare people you can get one if these...

This is true... I'd love a 50mm 1.2L but I think upgrading the body to a 5D would be the next priority... maybe on the next 50 months interest free offer... ;)
