Hey all, hoping you could help with a decision on my suspension setup. My car came with HKS Hypermax coils when I got it. It handles pretty good (i think?!) but the coils are noisey as, clunking and rattling all the time. The bushes look pretty stuffed too. I spoke with Ryan (i think? black jzx90) at all Jap day and he said i should try tighten the middle bolt thing (the one in the centre of the coilover) but that mofo just spun around all day and did nothing. So I am guessing they are shagged and I need new ones. I dont want to spend heaps really, as I never track the car or drift or anything, but do go for the occasional drive in the hills etc. So comfort is main priority, but I want it to handle decent too. Would BC or ISC coils with softish springs be the go?

The hks hipermax LS coilovers in my 100 lasted about 6 months after I got the car so I will be putting in bc golds before powercruise. No one rebuilds hks in Australia

you can take coilovers to bike shops and they can rebuild pretty much any coilovers for you

Not worth rebuilding, buy new BC's they are value for the price++. Greddy Type S are my fav daily/occasional thrash coils for a decent price too.

Thanks for the input fellas. Didn't know about the bike shops rebuilding, but makes sense. As the car is my daily I need to be able to swap them out over a weekend or something, so taking coils out and getting fixed and reinstalling is not really an option. I drive on Victoria Rd and James Ruse Drive every day, and both are quite rough in places (though they have just hot mixed a big section near my place thankfully) so want something that is more comfortable, but dont want to give away too much in handling (if possible). Anyone got suggestions on what spring rates I should go for??

BC coils is what i had in my chaser. thing it was 12 fronts and maybe 8 rears?. it had 32 level damber adjusters so i left the rears at about 16 and the fronts for dail on max soft and it was perfect and comfy. when going through some twisty roads or track id adjust the fronts accordingly. BG's best bang for buck.

BC BR 12/8 for average roads. I got mine upgraded to 14/10 and you can feel bumps on a rough road, but thats the nature of having coilovers, the car handles like a dream with them.
