old news but i think it deserves more awareness

would just like to stress not only the annoyance but how dangerous those stupid plug and play HID kits are.. (and owners!)
had this happen to me yesterday driving home.. its not so bad when ur in front of the car but when they come head on in the opposite direction, it really hinders your vision, particularly in the rain..

factory HID housing cars (HID from factory as an option)

HID's fitted into a non-HID housing (HIDs not an option from factory)

just yesterday alone i noticed how bad it was with 3 different cars!
most notably.. civics and corollas (yes it was a sportivo), are people that uneducated these days?

the general rule of thumb is that if your car DOESNT come with HIDs as an option, refrain from install those cheap ass HID bulb/kits. think about the safety of others..
do it the right way and look at different housings, better halogen bulbs or retrofitting if your frontal line of sight is that bad

not so much of an issue with JZX cars but have a think about this next time you past someone with these kits and see for yourself

pretty sure ray went with retrofit on his JZX90 from memory :claps:

even though our cars came factoryw ith HID's the light cut off point is no where near as sharp as projector headlights.

so our cars still blind ppl. not as bad as cars with non HID lights but still not as good as cars with projectors.

i beg to differ, our cars' HID (in particular 100/110) are actually quite good for what they are, still above average in comparison to projectors.
i mean comon, it wouldnt be a key point in the safety section if it somewhat evidently blinded people right?

the only situation i can see that happening is if u move away from 35w and go higher with rated output watts

test the cut off (not visibility; luminous intensity and efficiency degrade with age no doubt) with your lights one day and u'll see

contrary to that, whilst it may vary between car to car's housings, lets be honest HID kits in non HID housings is just blatantly stupid.

Projectors with hids are best.
Suprisingly my old BA Falcon with only halogen and reflective housing had one of the best headlights for illumination, high beam was outstanding.

As FR has put, if your car had halogens from factory, dont upgrade your driving lights with HID. If you think you dont have enough light, buy a specialised bulb and check your headlight alignment.
