I noticed when I installed my front mount recently there was a fair bit of oil in the old intercooler piping so I thought I'd install a catch can to keep the new one a bit cleaner. Just thought I'd double check that I'm going to install it right as no matter how hard I stare at the japanese instructions they aren't turning into english. Is it really as simple as putting it between the piping in location 1 in the picture below? I googled it and came across another thread and they were saying stuff about blocking off other bits and having a second one on the PCV valve but at this stage I'm really just going for a simple setup to keep the intercooler clean. Will this get the job done?

The other numbers are of locations mentioned in other threads just incase they need to be referenced.

in my opinion the oil in the intercooler is prob more likely to be coming from the old factory turbo
, i have added a oil catch can to mine and just about no oil has collected in it in over a year lol

Yep that's how I did mine.

Just be sure that the catch can has some sort of filter medium inside it, if the air can go straight in and straight out without passing through some stainless steel wool or layers of mesh then the oil will not separate from the air.

It was given to me by my sisters bf the first time I met him ( a bribe to get on my good side I think....it worked :P) Its a crappy "drift" one from memory that I modified a little with a hose on the inside that goes right to the bottom and put a some stainless steel wool in there as a filter medium.

Lol, hmmm i thought as much. I'll have a look around some of the cheap auto shops, proving to be a little harder than normal to find a compact unit which has a lid that can be taken off to add some baffling as you've done. Thanks doooooode
