ok got bored so i thought id post this lil puppy up..
i have always wanted to do an old 1 tonner up. full rebuild etc etc. now that i have some room i thought wtf may aswell start
missus is well impressed at my already late nights and the place looking like a "fkn truckies yard" haha
the plan is to do a hx prem nose on but i have started really falling for hq gts nose and since my sill is for std front its the way im goin now
i bought a hj rolling chassis with a hq cab on it for parts/ mock up...
then went to esperance to pick up another free full tonner without engine as it had a full set of matching tags to the chassis.- epic journey 20hours round trip non stop...
i have submitted an application with dpi with the intentions for this to be fully engineered and road registed... just waiting for the principle approval and ready to jump thru hoops
so now i have 2 1jzgte engines and 2 tonners
the plan
hz 1 cab chassis
1 jzgte with factory a340e auto engine conversion
single turbo upgrade ~gt37/gt40, ext gate
full smoothed chassis
hq gts nose
flattened rear cab
tubbed flat tray lined with jarrah.
paint plan atm is pearl white cab/tray/engine bay.
everything chassis/engine will be ceramic coated/painted black.
custom dash, stack dash/defi's etc
bride cuga pair seats
no carpet etc... full painted inside
weld rims
full hidden wiring/new brake lines
cage- this will be added once rego'd
a nice simple build that will take the next 2-3 years.
so far i have just fabricated the engine mounts using factory mounts and relocating the factory chassis mounting locations. now just need to get on a hoist and make the gearbox x member.
then its hq cab off and then full strip down of the chassis for smoothing/soda blast/paint/new bushes. cab and panel work will be done when possible. the cab needs new floor pans so a big job ahead

ok a few minor things have changed
while trolling gumtree i found a hz tonner shell and chassis that included the tags - all have been soda blasted and the cab has been 80% repaired-
all neew tunnel, floors,sills,cowls etc and had been stored indoors
also came with rarespares repo hx/z prem nose cone... giggidy...

so i had my new chassis and got some time off so i got it (old chassis) on the hoist and made a very neat (imo) gbox x member... had a 110kg ginger jump on it and no flex... should be good




i took engine out and slotted it and the new x member into the new chassis and lined her up Puuurrrrfectly... crank dead center and sitting lower than 350/308/202/5l efi etc.... nice low mass... very happy..


while it was on the hoise i started cleaning all the slag and shit welds thanks to the holden works back in the 70's haha...
made up some fuel tank mounts and ordered a tank so wait till im home next before i get the rest of the chassis smoothed and tank/mount in...
also dropped the old hz cab in the tip as sick of it laying around looking shit ... sad to push it off the trailer...
