So last week i managed to pick up a couple of defects courtesy to a determined QLD police officer who spent 40 minutes in the pouring rain going over the car.
He found a spot under the exhaust that measures 90mm instead of the required 100mm
The tint too dark
And a new one my headlights were too bright (8000k HIDS on low beam with standard Halogen on high beam)

I knocked the exhaust up a bit and booked it into a local mechanic for a safety cert and thought it would get through all sweet, however he claims that in order to have "replacement halogen bulbs with blue tint it needs to be marked with a stamp saying ADR51" indicating that they are approved bulbs. Afer telling him the wernt halogen bulbs so they dont need a stamp he went on the charge me $90 to tell me the same as the cop and he wont pass the car without getting stamped bulbs.

I had a quick look for these bulbs and couldnt find a pair to buy, or anything saying that HID bulbs had to be marked.

Car anyone shed some light on this?

Na I wouldn't mind if that was the case because it would be my own stupid fault, but it was an RBT, the bloke that breathilised me sent me on my way, then down the line the final cop stood in front of me and proceeded to defect me

Shit aye. Compliance centres put adr bulbs in to cover there own arse,HID aren't illegal unless there not ADR approved.Problem with chaser's ballast is there gas charged to what i believe which dont pass ADR and the bulbs also got things to do with explosions etc.
A couple of things i suggest is to get lower spec HID ( ebay sell them i think D2r's ive got 4500k i think you could swap with mine) or if i can dig up my halogen bulbs and holder's you can convert back for roady then change again.( also i know a guy who will pass the car pretty easily).
Also do the cops want to look at the car after roady has been done or is it a self clearing defect where once the roady has been done there happy??
And as the tint, well you could do what i did one time ( did it in my ol 33 sedan had 5% tint) and swap all the windows ( bar the back one) for non tinted glass and put the tinted pane's back in, takes a few hours but saves the cost of you tinting your windows complete again, then all you have to do is peel off back tint and get it redone later for about 60 bucks.

I'm pretty sure i read somewhere that the reason chaser's HID system is non compliant, is because they don't have auto-levellers, and BMW Audi etc all do, so they pass.

the hid in your car are aftermarket not factory ones they have a external ballast and none of the aftermarket ones pass australian design rules nor do the factory ones and we get defected in nsw all the time for them 1 because they done self level and 2 for some dumb shit reason your ment have head light washers to run them to get it passed roady i would just blue tack some cheap shit h1 bulbs in and pull the shit back out when you get home works in nsw ha ha
