Hey guys ive started going to the drags a fair bit and think ive come to the realisation that no matter how many little tweaks i do to the car, that its eventually going to run out of power before getting to my goal time. Heres the mods to date:
JZX100 auto
Hypergear highflowed ct15b
550cc densos
PFC
AVCR
HKS 16psi actuator
Greddy FMIC
Chiba built 3.5" stainless exhaust turbo back
3.5" metal cat
HKS superdragger
MV autos 1.5 shift kit
MV autos 2800 rpm stall
PWR Tranmission cooler (run in series with stock cooler)
car made 326 hp on 16psi although at the drags i run 20psi (dont have a power figure) and apparently thats all the turbo is good for.
since then i have installed a bigger stall (4200rpm, going back to mvs to get reworked cause only getting 3600-3800 with handbrake out of it) and bigger trans cooler with thermo.
ideally id like another 20-30rwkw, will a set of cams unlock that much power at this power level? or do i need a different turbo? and if so, which turbo? ideally id like 15-20psi by about 4000rpm and not run out of puff up top, which my car seems to do now. obviously something bolt on would be good, but i realise that if i cant get something bolt on to do this then changing my whole setup (manifold, intake, exhaust) , and having potential for 300rwkw would be the logical path to go.
thoughts???

well my car made 265 rwkw on 20 psi with a gt3076r std internals(manual), added cams , valve springs and stem seals then made 315rwkw on 19 psi so i'de say yes they make a difference.
but if your at the limit of the highflow turbo who knows
and changing from low mount to highmount made a decent different to me also

Curse of the CT15b exhaust housing - cams and stuff might help but that won't change the fact that lots of air is trying to go through not much turbo. I doubt you'll get what you want without getting a bigger turbo.
That's a massive stall converter, match it up to a GT35?

yeah i know its a massive converter dude, i want to get my 60fts down to 1.7x so need that little bit more power off the line. had considered a turbo change before, just need to do a little more homework and suss out my options. 35r would be mad, but not sure if i wanna spend 3-4k going down that rd

ok from that your convertor is toooooo big for the setup... you should be launching at 3200-3600 as its when your turbo is on the full boost... you are wasting power on a convertor thats too loose for your setup... if you went 35r or larger then that would be fine but you would be having dramas holding it on the line with out creeping...
i had 3500 stall and max of 3300 before she started trying to move... 3100 was where boost started- your convertor is designed to let your car be at its peak power point from the word go..
my 2 cents...
p.s releasing at higher rpm usually is meaning you have wheel spin = shit times... & loose convertor means less power wasted= shit times...
hope that helps
