Thought I would share my finding.

Since owning the JZX110 I have mainly run it on 95... that is until recently, we have finally got a servo supplying us 98 (BP). I was pretty sure I could feel the difference between the 2 but had no evidence. Having run the car on the dyno a few months earlier I thought it would be interesting to see what effects it really had.

JZX110
1JZGTE
Auto
FGK 3" Exhaust (cat back)
GReddy panel filter

(On the inital dyno run we tried with factory filter and GReddy to see the difference, it was showing no gains so possibly only really useful after more mods?)

There were no mods done to the car between runs apart from new fuel.
The air temp on both days were pretty comparable.
Both runs were 2nd gear.

Original run was 95 was 165kw - 98 was 172kw. The big stand out for me was gains in torque.
Red line is 95, blue is 98.

Always good to see comparisons like these, thanks for sharing.

Did you reset the ECU after switching to 98, so it could re-teach itself? Might be a couple more killerwasps in it, never know. ;)

Good point, I cant remember the last time I reset the ECU. Had been through about 6 tanks of 98 before the 2nd run so presumed it would have adjusted by then?

in Europe and japan 95ron is the basic fuel. I run 95 in my daily for the extra km's and wouldnt use 91 in my lawnmower. My car is tuned on 98(bp only) and i nearly ran out of fuel on the was home from the hills one day and had to put 95 in and even under minor load and little boost the knock was worse then on 98 running 20psi with limitor tap

Not too surprised to hear that, I found I cant run more than factory boost with 95. Below is the same comparison with AFR:

You said a dyno a few months ago weather could have also added more power cooler air and so on depending on time of year

I checked dates, they were just under 5 months apart. It was a little warmer back in Feb but inside the workshop I doubt there was much difference, maybe a couple of degrees cooler for the second run.

its good that you tested them. good on ya
ive always found that changing fuels from 95 to 98 gives it more torque

Sharing some more findings. Went back to the dyno, this time with the Cat removed.
Same Dyno, similar conditions and running on 98 still. Results and comparison with last run is below
