Hey guys, I took my car into Pedders to check out the suspension noise i was concerned about. Anyway they reckon the lower ball joints and the radius arm bushes are stuffed. Now they quoted $570 for the ball joints and $510 for the radius rod and bushes! With labor they wanted $1600! This is obvious BS, and even the guy at the shop said the prices were ridiculous (apparently he got quotes from Toyota).

Anyway first question - lower ball joints, i did a bit of searching around and Amayama has a price of about $53 each, but stock unconfirmed. Anyone know anywhere else to source? I think i read North Shore Toyota somewhere...any suggestions?

Next question - wtf is a radius rod? Dr google tells me it is also a torque arm, but i cant see anything called a torque arm, radius arm, or radius rod on toyodiy. Is it the same thing as a castor arm/rod? Amayama has something that looks like these for $101, but again not confirmed stock. Japaneseimportspares has adjustable ones for $295, but I would like to know if they are the right thing. Can someone shed some light on this?

North Shore Toyota for ball joints.

Radius Rod is another name for the castor arm, extremely common for the bushes to be flogged out. I got my bushes replaced with superpro ones, they use the same bushes as IS300/SXE10.

Hey Fraglord have you got a a part number? When I search on the superpro site i cant see anything for SXE10, and if i search IS300 I can only search for jce10 and there are no castor arm bushes listed.

Cheers to Nick from North Shore for ball joints! $111 AU delivered, hell of a lot better than $510 I got quoted here. Now to just source the castor arm bushes...

If its proving hard to find the bush, just get full arms or aftermarket ones.

I saw this, but I wasn't sure what it was for seeing as it said 'strut bar to chassis mount kit' and nothing about castor arm bushes? Thanks heaps though!
